Nothing hurts more than losing a child. It is a common saying among us Filipinos that it is the child who buries the parent, and not the other way around. Unfortunately, an ambulance driver had to experience this unimaginable pain when he found out that the patient they responded to was his daughter.
According to a report by GMA News Online last Friday, March 23, the ambulance driver found out too late that it was his own daughter whom their emergency team had to respond to and rush to the hospital. All he knew was that they got a call about a vehicular accident involving a motorcycle and a tricycle in Nabua, Camarines Sur.
News To Go reported that 24-year-old nurse Cristine Nikky Velitario was on her way home when the accident happened. Cristine was riding with a certain James Carl Flores, who was driving the motorcycle. The two came from a night of drinking.

Flores was reportedly under the heavy influence of alcohol, which was why he was driving too fast. He then collided with a tricycle, causing Cristine to be thrown off the motorcycle. The young lady hit her head on the pavement.
Local authorities immediately arrived at the scene of the accident, including the ambulance driver, John Darrell Velitario. However, he did not know that it was his daughter, Cristine, who was the passenger of the motorcycle.
It was only upon arriving at the hospital that Velitario recognized her. Unfortunately, Cristine passed away.
The Velitario family is now planning to file charges against Flores. As of writing, the latter has yet to give his statement regarding the accident.
