Don Tagala, an ABS-CBN correspondent is now in the limelight as RJ "Thinking Pinoy" Nieto released a very disappointed post about how Tagala disrespected the Presidential spouse Honeylet Avaceña when she went to the US when invited by the US first lady Melania Trump for the UN General Assembly.
According to Nieto, Tagala rudely questioned the Presidential spouse and asked questions like what was she doing in New York and who paid for the trip.
Avaceña got rattled because of how rude the questions were and especially, she was not the type of spouse who paraded in the limelight. She was not used to being in the public eye.
The protocol officers that were assigned to Avaceña then came to the rescue and prevented Tagala and his crew from filming more footage. To which Tagala shouted,
"This is United States, he can't be stopped from filming."
It has been days since the presidential spouse was first seen in New York City, but it seems that Tagala has no plans of stopping his rumors. This is the reason why Nieto posted his sentiments.
“Mr. Tagala, pinagbigyan na kita nung unang ilang araw, pero sumosobra na ang kabalahuraan mo. Ang bait ko na nga sa iyo nung tinanong ng readers ko kung bakit ang bastos mo, pero you’re pushing it too far.”
Nieto said that attitude of the journalists in asking questions was one of the reasons why the people slowly losing their trust to the mainstream media.
“Yung mga “journalists” tulad ni Tagala ang lalong sumisira sa mga reputasyon ninyo.”
A lot of people also seemed to agree with what Nieto said. Here are some comments in his post.
Meanwhile, a netizen named RG San Luis posted a series of posts showing how Tagala was blatantly targeting Avaceña.
He also shared a sarcastic post by Gary Alejano showing how high the Philippines' Impunity index is.
He said that it is too obvious how the network is being biased.
“Obvious naman yung bias ni ABS-CBN New York correspondent Don Tagala. Targeted niya si Honeylet Avanceña. One thing you don’t do to Digong is run after his family. Hindi bale na siya huwag lang pamilya niya. They go out of their way to stay out of the limelight unlike other members of previous President’s family members.”
He even added:
“ABS-CBN will definitely pay when its congressional franchise to operate expires.”
Did Tagala really cross a line?
