The Armed Forces of the Philippines is now preparing for the arrest of the consultants of the Communist Party of the Philippines, the New People’s Army and the National Democratic Front.
This is after President Rodrigo Duterte formally ended ‘peace talks’ between the government and the communist group.
According to AFP Spokesperson Major General Restituto Padilla, the safe conduct pass granted by the government before to CPP-NPA-NDF Consultants for their temporary freedom and participation in peace talks is no longer valid.
The AFP also warned that it would include arresting anyone who will be proven to be assisting the NPAs.
Meanwhile, in an interview by the Manila Bulletin, top northeastern and northern Mindanao military commanders of the AFP and PNP in unison said they still cannot arrest the aforementioned NDF consultant “without proper directive and guidance from their respective higher officials from the central command.”
“We are just waiting for guidance from our higher command,” another chief of police said.
