We all know that Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte will do anything to fight for his country. And when it comes to fighting, he adapts the methodology "a tooth for a tooth, an eye for an eye."
United States President Donald Trump visited the Philippines for the ASEAN summit this year. It is reported that in a letter to Trump dated November 2, Democratic Rep. James McGovern and Republican Rep. Randy Hultgren urged Trump to raise the issue of EJK and human rights to Duterte.
"During your upcoming visit to the Philippines for meetings with regional leaders at the ASEAN (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) Summit in Manila, including Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte, we urge you to impress upon President Duterte the United States’ profound concern over reported extra-judicial killings associated with the Philippine government’s 'war on drugs.'"
In the letter, the two politicians said that they think that the United States should remain champion of human rights.
"We certainly recognize the strategic importance of maintaining our strong partnership with the Philippines, especially amid rising tensions in the region over North Korea’s nuclear and missile programs and Chinese territorial sovereignty issues involving the South China Sea. At the same time, we believe the United States must remain a champion of human rights, due process, and the rule of law,"
The two U.S. politicians also protested when Trump invited Duterte to the U.S.
To which, Duterte has a perfect reply.
“Sabihin ko sa kanila, you are too presumptuous. What made you think that I am even planning or thinking about visiting your country?”
Duterte said that the names of the two politicians will be submitted to the Bureau of Immigration for blacklisting.
“If you think you protest my coming into your country, why? You are also prohibited from entering mine,”
The PH president also said that when they do try to visit the Philippines, somebody should let him know.
“Somebody should tell me they’re coming. And I will just see you. You, son of a b****… If you do not like me, I do not like you. We’re even,”
