Netizens accused militants, including BAYAN secretary general Renato Reyes of accepting money and bribes in exchange of conducting rally against the government.
But the militant groups denied the accusations and insisted that they didn’t accept any money from anyone in exchange of their political work.
However, Jay Sonza a veteran journalist, explained why the militants might be lying.
According to him, he personally witnessed how his friends became rich in different good ways, but he also know some people who earned money in a ‘dirty’ way.
In his article titled “Mas madali ang kita sa protesta,” Sonza said that conducting rally in the Philippines is a ‘raket’ or business that allegedly giving extra income to some people who joined political activities against the government.
Sonza revealed that a militant can earn 500-1000 pesos per day depending on their position in the group.
Militants also received several perks like free transportation, pack lunch, one bottle of water and sometimes free cigarettes.
The veteran journalist also said that some militant leaders earn greatly in this scheme because of the corruption of some people who organized the rally.
Guerrero at Lean Alejandro.
He also said that some organizers were highly placed personalities in politics and society so the militants were not worried if they jailed or hospitalized for protesting against the government because they can afford all the things that they needed like legal fees and hospitalization fees.
You won’t believe this, but these rally organizers, some of them are highly placed personalities in politics and society with misplaced personal motivations are very good at seizing every opportunity, and preparing and submitting seemingly result-oriented studies and budgetary portfolio to prospective select clientele. So what, kung nakakagambala sila sa trapik. Kahit anong mangyari tiyak may kita sila.
Now he hopes that his followers are now enlightened why some of the militant leaders were living in a comfortable life.
Several weeks ago, BAYAN secretary general Renato Reyes said that in his 25 years of activism, he didn’t received any money from other people, but admitted that they got some ‘allowances’ during rallies.
We are full time activists. We do not have salaries, only small allowances that are way below the minimum wage.” Renato Reyes said.
