President Rodrigo Duterte on Wednesday lambasted members of the New People's Army for allegedly violating their own ceasefire declaration.

Duterte hit out at communist rebels Speaking at the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council's briefing in Sagada, Tubod on the effects of cyclone Vinta in the Lanao province. The Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) has accused the New People's Army (NPA) of violating its own holiday ceasefire when it "harassed" a military patrol base in Compostela Valley on Christmas Day.

"Itong mga komunistang ito hambugero. Kung mag-salita, kala mo sino. Sabi ko, 'Kaya ikaw, mga terorista kayo.' Tingnan mo, ceasefire, may—saan ba ‘yun? May inatake na naman sila. Walang honor talaga itong mga p— inang ‘to. L—," said Duterte, who had previously declared the CPP-NPA a terrorist organization.





"But I did not declare war with them. Akin, unilateral ‘yung akin. Hindi kasi—hindi naman lahat ng… There was not… no, no agreement between us and the NPA. Kaya ang forces of government are free to operate. Eh inumpisahan nila eh," he added.

The government has declared a holiday ceasefire from 6 p.m. of December 23 to 11:59 p.m. of December 26, and from 6 p.m. of December 30 to 11:59 p.m. of Jan. 2, 2018.




The Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP), in return, declared its own ceasefire from 6 p.m. of December 23 to 6 p.m. of December 26, and from 6 p.m. of December 30 to 6 p.m. of Jan. 2, 2018.
