For a long time, people have thought that those who work abroad are having the time of their lives. But the actual truth is far from this assumption. We have been bombarded with stories that tell of the daily abuse that our OFWs experience. One such story is how a female OFW was sleeping on the cold floor with only a plastic sheet as her bedding.

A fellow domestic worker named Rose Saro reported about the woman’s situation on Facebook. She said that she went with her employer who was going to a friend’s house. But Rose didn’t expect to witness the horrible living conditions that this female OFW was experiencing.

It turns out that this unfortunate woman sleeps on the cold floor every night. From Rose’s pictures, we can see that this domestic worker has been squeezed into the pantry room and uses plastic sheets to keep herself warm at night. Although we do not know the exact story as to why this arrangement happened, we are no less horrified to witness this OFW’s uncomfortable life.

Rose implored those who have seen her Facebook post to help out this fellow Filipina. Netizens were outraged over the sickening photos and immediately responded to Rose’s plea. We are still not sure whether the Philippine Embassy or even the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) has been alerted with regards to the woman’s plight.





This goes to show that working abroad does not guarantee a great, happy life. Most of these people toil and suffer loneliness to make sure that their families are well taken care of. Let us hope that this poor woman has received assistance and is now safe.
