An angry netizen ranted on Facebook about a certain local recruitment agency she blames for causing her cousin’s pain and suffering. This netizen has a cousin who is a young OFW in the Middles East whom she worries about, especially after she saw the state her cousin was in.
From the pictures, we see the young OFW passed out and was reportedly coughing up blood and suffered from a swollen heart. The complainant called out the recruitment agency for leading her cousin to this kind of troubled life abroad.
It turns out that her cousin, along with the other workers, were being horribly treated. However, it wasn’t made clear if the mistreatment was solely the employer’s doing, the recruitment agency’s or both. The young OFW, along with other workers, haven’t been eating well because there is no food provided.
According to a report by KAMI, her cousin was forced to drink water as her only source of nourishment. It was also reported that they have been physically abused by their employers and all her cousin’s hard-earned money were taken away – supposedly by the agency
Her young cousin said that all these abuses weren’t the only problem facing her cousin. She alleged that her cousin was a victim of s*xual harassment, perpetrated by her employer’s son which is why she left. The angry netizen shared that her relative is only 16 years old and undeserving of that kind of life.
According to the same report, the recruitment agency was accused of faking the OFW’s documents so she was eligible for work outside the country. Although the original Facebook post makes it difficult to determine if the agency were responsible in falsifying the minor’s documents or not. A complete address of the woman’s place of work wasn’t given making it hard to send help.
Luckily, the young girl has been safely taken back to the Philippines.
