HOUSE OK'S SIM REGISTRATION ON 3RD READING
Voting 167-6, the House of Representatives of the Philippines approves the SIM Card Registration Bill on the 3rd Reading.
If enacted into law, this would require all existing mobile users to register their SIM cards. Moreover, SIM card sellers will start requiring SIM card end users to present a valid photo ID before they can buy a SIM card.
Proponents of the bill argue that the proposed law will allow law enforcement agencies to more easily track down criminals.
