New York University alumna and prominent social media personality Krizette Laureta Chu, spoke about how President Rodrigo Roa Duterte may be misunderstood by his critics.
“To the small minded or to those who are used to conventional, LP-style politics, Duterte seems like a madman, a liar, impulsive,” Chu stated.
She cited one of President Duterte's speeches where he said that Communist Party of the Philippines (CPP) founder Joma Sison is very ill. The chief executive drew flak when Sison responded that he is not sick and he is unsure as to why Duterte said that.
Critics were quick to call out Duterte as a liar but Chu defends that as President he has an access to confidential information.
“Duterte doesn't care what you think of him. He has achieved what he wanted: To spread the word among the NPA factions and the group that their leader is dying. For what purpose, I cannot claim to know,” Chu stated.
She also clarified that while Pres. Duterte's current moves may confuse some people, it takes time before the benefits of his strategies are realized and she contrasted it with playing a chess.
“A great chess player doesn't just make his move as a reaction to his opponent's move. A great chess player has patience, and has seen the game through to the very end. He has long-range vision, and does not react on a per move basis.” She added.
