Dagdag pa nito, ang drug addiction ay hindi lamang policy issue kundi ito ay isang personal na laban dahil hindi ito abstract issue lamang.
Base sa record ay nasa 450,000 na katao na ang namamatay kada taon dahil sa overdose o drug related health issues habang 31 milyon na tao naman sa buong mundo ang kailangang sumailalim sa drug-addiction treatment.
Suportado ni Foreign Affairs Secretary Alan Peter Cayetano na dumalo rin sa UN general assembly ang naging pahayag ni Mr. Guterres at dapat lamang magkaisa ang buong mundo upang malabanan ang illegal drugs.
“I’m very happy about it, because it’s a confirmation of what our president has been telling the whole world again and again that drugs is a problem for everyone and that drugs affects the lives of not only the victims but also of their relatives, neighbors, their friends and everything so more and more world leaders are recognizing how huge the problem of illegal drugs is. And this is just a confirmation a reiteration of what our president is saying all along,” wika pa ni Sec. Cayetano.
