. Netizen shares brother’s budol budol experience
. New scheme involves a windowed envelope supposedly
  containing thick cash
. A number of comments on the post revealed similar modus
  experienced in different location

A netizen named Ma Lourdes De Leon shared her brother’s experience on Facebook to warn others, and here’s how her story goes:

Of all the budol budol [scam] she read on the news, Lourdes never thought it could happen to one of her family members.

While her younger brother was about to go home from Saturday church and while waiting for a jeepney, two guys (suspects) approached him asking for some help.

The suspects told her brother that their truck malfunctioned and that they need to rent another truck to go home.

They then asked Lourdes’ brother to safekeep a windowed envelope containing cash while they’re looking for a rental truck… but before entrusting the “money” to her brother, they asked to borrow his cellphone, she said on her post.

Her brother, seemingly hypnotized, gave his cellphone, and it was a bit later when he realized that he’s been victimized because the suspects didn’t return. It was then he decided to “peek” into the envelope. Only the P100 bill visible on the window envelope was real and the rest of the thick “cash” were all cutout paper.

Moreover, a comment on her post revealed similar modus using windowed envelope and a truck that purportedly malfunctioned.

Lourdes believes that it’s the same group of scammers since it was also in Parañaque where her brother was victimized; exactly in front of Chowking Kabihasnan Parañaque at around 8:00 pm, January 21.

“Please please share and be extra vigilant!” said Lourdes.
