African leaders from Kenya, South Africa and Nigeria have this evening launched a movement dubbed ‘Pro-Duterte Supporters in Africa’ to defend Duterte ideologies on war on drugs.

Speaking during the launch in Nairobi, Kenya’s former Prime Minister Rt.Hon.Raila Odinga congratulated Philippines President Rodrigo Duterte on his efforts to end drugs trafficking in Philippines. He said African politicians would collaborate with drug dealers in the Philippines to import the substances in South Africa, Kenya, and Nigeria.

“We are happy for the Philippines leader, Mr.Rodrigo Duterte. He is a gentleman who the world should celebrate. War on drug trafficking is not an easy task. We have tried it here in Africa but we couldn’t do a quarter of what Mr. Duterte has done. Cartels, politicians, and tycoons would import drugs from Asian countries like China, Philippines, Burma and others. Luckily, this business has gone down in the Philippines since Duterte was elected President in June 2016.” he said.

“Filipinos may see Duterte as a problem to them but Africans see him as a God sent. We are aware drugs cartels have been criticising his campaign on bases of crime against humanity. They are bitter and frustrated because they feel their business has been terminated. As reputed African leaders, we have started a movement that will be supporting Duterte ideologies in Africa and we assure him of our total support whenever necessary. Pro-Duterte Supporters in Africa is the movement, we are using Duterte trademarks to prove that we really support him and he should resist any form of negative criticism be it from West or East.” he added.

The movement consists of South Africa President Jacob Zuma, senior members of African National Congress, Nigeria President Muhammadu Buhari who says Nigeria youths have been victims of drugs and Kenya’s prime minister who hosted the delegates.

Philippines tough and crime-buster President Rodrigo Duterte has many mannerisms and staple poses. One of which is his remarkable pose with his fist closed as a symbol of change and integrity.

Although Duterte has a massive base of supporters, he also faces intense opposition. He is a lawyer and a politician who has been mayor of Davao City for seven terms (or more than 22 years); he was also its vice mayor and was congressman of its district. Zero tolerance for criminals is his ultimate policy, and for that he earned the sobriquet “The Punisher.”

In 2015, Numbeo ranked Davao as the safest and fourth most livable city in the Philippines and the fifth safest city in the world, with a crime index of 18.18 and a safety index of 81.82. Also, the Philippines’ Department of Tourism consistently ranks Davao City as one of the top tourist destinations in the country.

Besides having a low crime rate, Davao also ranks as the fifth richest city in the Philippines an indicator why world leaders like associating themselves with Duterte.
