A netizen compared President Rodrigo Duterte and Vice President Leni Robredo’s lifestyle by looking at the seat preferred by the two politicians when they watched a sports match.
According to a news report, the cheapest ticket to the welterweight showdown which won by Sen. Pacquiao only costs $125 (P6,500).
During the match, most people who only watched via television thought that President Duterte didn’t show up to the Arena because they’re expecting that he’s going to seat in the ringside. But after the match, boxing fans realized that the President was seated at the farthest seat together with Malaysian Prime Minister Mahathir Bin Mohamad.

Meanwhile, Meija-Villar pointed out that Vice President Leni Robredo spent thousands of dollars to watch an NBA game.

According to Pro-Duterte blogger Mark Lopez, the cheapest ticket available for a Boston Celtics Playoff Basketball game versus Cleveland Cavaliers costs $663 or about P34,878.80 per seat, airfare, and hotel not included. Lopez pointed out that if Robredo were indeed seated in the near the courtside, the ticket would cost $950 or P49,970 or higher.
Because of this, Mrs. Meija-Villar concluded that President Rodrigo Duterte didn’t want to spend money on entertainment.
“Si Duterte, general admission seats dun sa pinakadulo pa talaga; pinakamalayo sa ringside sa Pacquiao vs Mathysse boxing fight sa Malaysia. Cheapo talaga si Tatay D eh!” Meija-Villar said.
“So, tanong ngayon, sino sa kanilang dalawa ang Mas matipid Na government official?” she added.
Veteran Journalist Jay Sonza also believes that the world of the President and the Vice President is different despite being both originated from a province.
“Magkaiba talaga ng daigdig si Mr. Duterte at Mrs. Robredo. Si Mang Digong nanood ng world championship boxing sa ASEAN (kuala Lumpur, Malaysia), nasa dulong itaas ng general admission (walang bayad at inilibre ng prime minister, kasama ang anak na binata.” Sonza said.
“Si Aleng Leni, nanood ng professional basketball (NBA playoff) sa AMERIKA (Boston Garden, Mass. USA), daang libo ang halaga ng tiket na ringside seat ang peg kasama ang anak na dalaga Parehong promdi ang dalawa. Isang nagpapakatotooo at isang nagpapakasosyal.” he added.
Duterte is known for his simple lifestyle and being thrifty. When he became the President, he even ordered that only simple foods would be served during events.
He also fired several government officials that spending lavishly.
