Since President Rodrigo Roa Duterte’s seating in 2016, the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) Chief Director Camilo Cascolan has observed some impressive improvements in Metro Manila. With the lowest ever weekly crime rate of just 231 from the original 329 from May 14 to May 20 last year, it was a 29.29% decrease and a remarkable one.
Truly remarkable for compared to last year’s records, physical injury incidents reduced by a whopping 47! Rape incidents were dropped by 6 while murder and homicide incidents were reduced by 1.
Other than that, Robbery went down by 22, theft by 8, carnapping of motor vehicles by 3 and carnapping of motorcycles by 10.
NCRPO’s classical internal cleansing
“I am very generous on giving of awards to deserving and performing police personnel. I know what it feels to be on the field, as I was once like them. I believe that one simple award or recognition is enough to uplift their morale and integrity." - Cascolan said.
And with that generousity, 31,933 exceptional police officers were given rewards.
"But I am tough for those who are lousy and erring. They should pay for their neglience of duty or for doing illegal activities.” - He added.
Thus sanctioning 42 officers who proved themselves incapable of performing their jobs such integrity to uphold the law.
Out of these 42 sanctioned police officers, 26 of them were suspended, 12 relieved from post, 2 demoted and another 2 were dismissed.
